Rather, it was ridden and loved by its previous pilot — and importantly, very well cared for. Its service history revealed nothing out of the ordinary, though two items stood out in its favor: one is that the bike recently had its big Desmo Service completed. This is normal part of the Ducati's scheduled maintenance, but a rather costly one that, now, you won't have to worry about for quite some time. The other nice thing is that the front and rear TIRES were also replaced recently and they're still practically like new! Of course, we gave the bike a thorough mechanical evaluation in our Service Department to discover what, if any, hidden issues or gremlins there could be that would need attention before we’d allow the bike to pass to a new owner. Good news: there was very little it needed to come up to tip-top condition. We gave it fresh engine oil and a filter. We found the front brake pads to be at their wear limit, so we installed a NEW EBC Brake Pads on both front calipers. For good measure, we also filled both tires with nitrogen to enhance their lifespan and performance characteristics. There were some cosmetic issues that we thought should be remedied because the bike had apparently tipped over once on each side. These interactions with gravity left behind some unsightly damage that was, however, easy to fix with some new parts. The bike came in with aftermarket bar-end mirrors on it which had borne much of the brunt of these tip-overs — fortunate since they were buffers against what might have been worse damage. We replaced both mirrors with new stock Ducati mirrors. The brake and clutch levers also were nicked badly, so we installed new stock Ducati levers. It's our standard procedure to finish the service with an extended test ride to verify the quality of the work (the proof is on the pavement). We can now say that every function, performance feature and safety attribute is 100% up to factory spec or better. But in this case, we think it's appropriate to quote what our test rider wrote on his report. Here it is, verbatim: "THIS UNIT IS A FREAKING MONSTER, I LOVE IT… AN ABSOLUTE BEAST, TONS OF BRUTAL POWER, ACTUALLY PRETTY COMFORTABLE, HANDLES VERY NICELY. A VERY GOOD BIKE."  By the way, we should note here that the techs' ride reports are usually quite matter-of-fact; rarely written with this much gushing enthusiasm. And remember, these guys get to ride everything!  Finally, How does it look? Well, see for yourself. It's stunning. Our pro detailer had his way with it, and as a result, its Ducati Red paint shines so deep you can go swimming in it. There are, however, two cosmetic issues that we should point out as they may not be so noticeable in the photos. There is a small dent on the right-hand side of the tank. It's minor and can only be seen at certain angles. It's noticeable in the closeup photo of the tank, though it barely stands out. The other issue is that there is a crack in the belly pan on the right side. Again, it's hardly visible and, according to our service techs, inconsequential. Otherwise, any other evidence of the bike's previous life is so insignificant as to be unworthy of mention. In the end, this motorcycle speaks directly to our deepest desires. Its beauty is designed-in, which is a tribute to the legendary sports tradition where Ducati’s roots lie, and it simply triggers instinctive passions that are, well… we needn’t say more. This red rocket is Maryland Safety Inspected and totally ready to roll. It comes with two keys and the original owner's booklets.
