This is the 3rd motorcycle to come from the seller. All of the bikes so far have been in over the top condition, and we have been told there are more to come! This RGS1000 was purchased from the 3rd owners widow in October 2018, she too is a rider, and was in the same condition as it sits today. The current owner took it up to Wolfgang Haerter in Nakusp and let him go through it just to make sure everything was up to snuff. The only thing it needed was a new battery It is not bone stock: it has an aftermarket stainless steel exhaust and sounds fantastic, not too loud.  To help slow it down, it has oversized floating rotors up front with 4 piston Goldline Brembo caliper conversion. Out back it has a floating rotor and Brembo caliper as well along with upgrades brake lines.  There ae also a nice set of Ohlins rear shocks in place. The OEM wheels were modified to run tubeless tires. The tires are not OEM size but a new set of Continental Road Attack tires that will go with it. The aluminum footpegs brackets were removed, polished and then nickel plated, as were the engine side covers by the previous owner, otherwise it is stock. We don’t have the OEM takeoffs, except for the mufflers. It rides very nicely and sounds exotic. It fires up with a touch of the starter button and warms up quickly.  Included is a shop manual and records from the previous and original owners dating back to 1991, original owners manual, lots of keys, and a clear WA state title.  PRESS By the early 1980s Laverda was in financial trouble with the triples having to compete with cheaper, multi-cylinder machines from Japan. Being a small company unable to compete with the volume manufacturers from Japan, Laverda chose to aim at the high quality market. The RGS was released in 1983 with a new 120 degree crankshaft and sculpted bodywork. It had a new frame, lower seat height and a lower center of gravity. The Veglia one-piece instrument cluster included a fuel gauge, the bodywork was made from a new, highly durable "bayflex" plastic and incorporated a unique snorkel-type fuel filler arrangement in the front right fairing panel. It has become an enduring classic, and, with the the right tires and in the hands of a capable rider, can still give modern sports machines a considerable surprise.  For the RGS, Laverda civilized the 981 cc engine with rubber mounts and quieter exhaust, but the 83hp didn’t suffer. Marzocchi suspension is found front and rear, but triple 280mm Brembo brakes are a little undersized for a 135 mph streamliner.  The Laverda RGS was among the last all-new designs produced by Moto Laverda in Breganze, Italy. Francesco Laverda built his first motorcycle in 1947-1948, and began serial production of a 75cc single, the Turismo, in 1950. Laverda was already reeling from overseas competition in the early 1980’s, but had the gumption for one more design project. The RGS was based on their recent 1000cc air-cooled triple and rode more like a Beemer than a finicky Italian exotic.  After the Laverda family abandoned ship in 1985, the company was fits and starts until industrialist Francesco Tognon was nearly successful with a couple of new models in the 1990’s, making the RGS almost the last design from an icon dating back to 1873. Fast, quiet, and smooth, the Laverda was unfortunately slower, heavier, and more expensive than its Japanese rivals. But if you’re after a continental 1980’s experience, the RGS is one of a very few… Cash Price listed, up to a $200.00 documentation fee may be charged Seattle Used Bikes  4111 Aurora Ave N.  Seattle, WA 98103 206 535-6812 Shop 206 984-3738 Text chris @ seattleusedbikes.com  Closed Sun/Mon Find us on Instagram, Facebook and the Web  We are booking service appointments and taking storage reservations daily Tags: ebay, cycletrader, craigslist, seattle, craigslist, welovewhatwedo, seattleusedbikes, SUB, BMW, Multistrada, Ducati, ADV Rider, craigslist, Cycletrader, pnwmoto, pnwriders,  yamahalove,  rarebikes, welovewhatwedo, motorcyclelove,   yamahamotorcycles, backfiremoto, honda,  yamaha, suzuki, Kawasaki, moto Guzzi, triumph, royal enfield, Genuine Scooters, Scrambler, Sport, Tiger 800, Triumph, nakedbike, Ninja, streetfighter, 1976,1977,1978,1979,1980,1981,82,83,84,95,96,97,88,89 1990, 1991,92,93,94,95,96,97,98,99,2000, 01,02,03,04,05,06,07, 08, 09. 2010, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19. 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, Motorcycle For Sale in Seattle, Washington - Pictures, Information, Reviews - Buy, Trade
