Details:
Here is a 'Rare' Original Oak Antique Arts & Crafts Serving Tray from approximately ca. 1890's - 1915. To realize how rare this Tray is, try to find an Original Arts & Crafts Oak Tray like this! There are numerous Copper & Brass trays, I had a hammered copper tray years ago, but never a tray like this! When found, the original oak was so grimy & dirty, the wood grain barely showed. Just a few minutes of lightly cleaning some of the decades of dirt off the oak and the potential of restoring this very rare piece to pristine condition shows. When properly cleaned & restored, imagine the splendor and the value of owning an original Arts & Crafts frame after a century or more of neglect. Even its original handles are intact. The tray is 20" long x 14" wide (not including 1" frame points) and the oak is a full 1" thick and in very good condition except for needed cleaning. The glass is not cracked or chipped (the glass was dirty & grimy beyond description as well) though there is some old white paint splatters on it which can be easily removed (I removed one splatter just to check) the old stained cloth below the glass is a plaid design which could be considered unusual if not for the fact this tray could have come over from Scotland where the Arts & Crafts movement began in the 1890s led by Charles Rennie Macintosh. This tray was purchased from a family that had been a depository of generations for their family. Along with this tray, we purchased several early colonial items from them as well. Incredible sale! The old felt backer has been riddled by moths and of course needs to be replaced as well. This is a project for someone who loves restoring items to their original condition. Please note that the Price is FIRM! Email or Text (No Calls) Thanks
