Details:

BeWild, Inc. is a fully licensed and insured 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Chapel Hill, NC. We provide affordable educational animal programs and act as a small-scale exotic animal rescue. We want to make sure that the community knows about us and can use us as a resource if needed. BeWild specializes in reptiles. Due to current housing and space restrictions, we are only accepting surrendered reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and certain small mammals. Animals we cannot accept include adult iguanas, large monitors, large constrictors (Burmese, reticulated pythons), aquatic turtles, rabbits, and parrots. However, we do have facilities for small-to-medium sized lizards and snakes, as well as small tortoises. Our ability to accept small mammals at this time is very limited, but you can always inquire. If we are unable to accept your animal, we can work with you to contact other animal rescues around the state to find placement. Additionally, we do have plans to expand and build larger facilities to accommodate all exotic pet surrenders, so our limitations are temporary! If you are seeking placement for your pet, feel free to visit our website and contact us through email or phone - we are able to answer emails much faster. All of our animals go through a 30-day quarantine period and are seen by the exotics veterinarians at Avian and Exotic Animal Care if presented with health issues. Potential adopters must fill out an adoption application and are selected based on experience and expertise. We do ask adopters to pay a small adoption fee. Visit our website at www.bewildnc.org, our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/bewildnc, or our Instagram at www.instagram.com/bewildnc. Thank you!
