Tax Accountant Phoenix AZ

StoneMor Partners is conducting a search for a Tax Accountant to join our corporate Tax team in Trevose, PA. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Sales Tax -Monthly, Quarterly and Annual filing and remittance of sales tax for all funeral homes and cemeteries on both the state and local level for numerous states. -Preparation of book entries to record the sales tax payments on the proper legal entity. -Research using RIA Checkpoint for classification and rate changes for numerous states. -Direct contact for state and local entities to resolve issues and answer questions. Personal Property Tax -Annual filing of Personal Property Returns for funeral homes and cemeteries on the state and local level for numerous states. -Research internal asset transfers and disposals for accurate reporting on the filing. -Remittance of Personal Property Tax annually, while insuring the amounts remitted are correct and in line with what is actually taxable and what is exempt. -Resolve disputes for state and local entities in the event of an error on reporting, any pending audits, or any questions Exemption Filings -Annual filing of exemption paperwork to keep our cemeteries in exempt status in California, Washington and Indiana. -Compile information from location in regards to total land and plot usage for accurate filing. -Research using RIA Checkpoint and other sources for changes in law regarding the exemption. Additional Responsibilities -Assist Senior Tax Accountant in completing income tax returns for StoneMor Partners, LP and all related entities. -Assist Senior Tax Accountant in preparing and sending out extension and estimate paperwork and payments where applicable. -Prepare trial balances for upload for StoneMor Partners, LP and its related entities using provision and other internal reports using OneSource. -Complete journal entries to reflect book to tax adjustment using OneSource for StoneMor Partners, LP and its related entities. -Process completed returns for timely mailing or e-filing in regards to their due dates. -Assist in preparation and maintenance of master database for completed and anticipated returns, expected liabilities, extension dates and payments of record -Other projects as assigned Education and/or Experience: -BS Degree in Tax, Accounting. -1-2 years of experience in tax return preparation -CPA OR equivalent certification a plus. -MLP experience a plus.
