It is with an extremely heavy heart that I'm posting this ad. I'm getting married in June and because of my future wife's allergies, I will eventually need to give up my babies for adoption. I want to start the process now because I want to ensure that they go to the very best home. It is vitally important to me that they remain together---they are bonded and it (very slightly) eases my burden to know they'll have each other. I'm hoping that whoever decides to take them in will allow me to see them at the dog park every once in a while. I understand that they will be your babies now, but they mean so much to me and I don't want to say goodbye to them for good. They are both very well trained. They will `sit', `down', `crate', `here', `heel' and `place' reliably. Of course, sometimes there are distractions, but by almost any standard they are excellent in this respect. Bailey, the lab, is the most loving dog you will ever meet. He is so excited for any attention, loves everyone and especially loves playing ball. Fair warning: he is very high energy, so it is imperative that he goes on a long walk/dog park as frequently as possible (ideally, once a day). Elliott, the shepherd mix (I did DNA test, he's 62.5% German Shepherd, 12.5% Labrador, 12.5% Pit Bull, and 12.5% Border Collie), is much more mellow. Because of where he was originally rescued from, he is sometimes hesitant with people (never aggressive), but within a short period he will become a constant cuddle-buddy. He loves to sit on my lap (doesn't realize he's 65 pounds). He is very easy going, very calm and very friendly. Once he warms up to you (which now really happens very quickly), he will love you more than anything else. Both of them would be great with children. They've been trained on manners, so they will rarely jump and will also know to go to their respective places/crates when told. (I also have cats: they will both chase them at times, so it depends on your cat's disposition). I have up-to-date medical records and both of them are very healthy. The only recurring issue is that Bailey gets relatively frequent ear infections (Lab's are prone to this). There is NO REHOMING FEE or anything like that. In fact, if it is a very good home, I'd be willing to continue to subsidize the food/toy/vet costs to an extent. What matters to me is that they go a home where they will get a lot of love, attention and exercise. And again, it would mean the world to me if I could continue to see them at the dog park. I'm currently out of state (but will be back permanently in June), so it will take a little bit of coordination to set up a meet and greet. If you're interested, please let me know about yourself and your situation. I (sort of) look forward to hearing from you...
