Details:
1980 24' Champion TranStar RV based on a '79 Dodge CB300 commercial body cutaway van and Sportsman package cab. Factory 440-1 muscle engine (not the 440-3 RV-cam normally found), 727 Loadflite tranny. $10,000 obo, trades considered, classic cars, vans, trucks, motorcycles, Volkswagens considered, try me! Successfully completed a 2700 mile move from Seattle to Dallas, December 2018, with ZERO issues! This is a chance to own a truly rare, very low mile classic dually Muscle Van, meet Mr. T. T is powered by one of the very last 7.2L V-8 440s ever made! Chrysler shut down the 440 production line in 1978. The van was manufactured as a cutaway in 1979 in Windsor, Ontario, sold to Champion Home Builders who delivered it as a motorhome in December of that year. It was sold in Tacoma, WA and spent its entire life in the Pacific Northwest. 24,000 miles! When I acquired Mr. T, he still had his original 16.5" Goodyear bias ply tires with good tread left. I drove the van on dry-rotted 1970s polyester tires for over a year before converting to the modern 16" wheels on the Dana 60HD dually rear end. There's still plenty of work to do, but the hard stuff is done! New 3/4" marine-grade deck floors, sealed underneath with premium West Marine boat epoxy and sheathed with tar paper for waterproofing. New luan wall panels. All of the original particleboard RV interior has been gutted, it is presently configured for cargo. The bathroom has been rebuilt as a cat condo to transport our Maine Coon from Seattle, which didn't end up happening. New brake system all around: Power Brake Booster, master cylinder, front calipers, pads, hoses, shoes, cylinders. Drums have tons of life left. New Carter Thermoquad 750cfm 4-barrel carburetor and fuel lines front to back. Electric booster pump works great! New performance ignition system by Rick Ehrenburg, editor of MOPAR Action magazine, including brand new, made in USA big block distributor and NOS Chrysler cap. New wires, coil, resistor, ignition module plus a spare, plugs, Voltage regulator. The works! Already converted from 16.5" to correct Dodge 16" coined wheels, not flat-faced Ford, taken from a '93 dually truck. Cooper semi-mudders mounted with about 40% tread left. This time capsule sat for a combined total of 32 years, first as a home for an Air Force retiree, then sold to the man I acquired it from where it sat in his front yard for 17 more! He kept the engine running, but it never moved. Pacific Northwest weather rotted all carpet, headliners, and everything wooden inside. This required considerable effort to reverse, nobody in their right mind would have attempted this and one of the most unique RVs with possibly one of the lowest time, unrebuilt original 440s in the world would have gone to the crusher. This thing has a whole lot of life left in it, but should be considered a project. The skylights need new seals, the house windows should be removed and renew the weathersealant underneath. Typical RV maintenance. I have misplaced the title somewhere in our moving boxes. That being said, I am not selling it as a lost title vehicle! The title is clean and clear, I have reordered it from Seattle and it should be arriving in the next few weeks. Interested parties are welcome to come over and assist me in various maintenance I will conducting on it in the meantime to get to know the vehicle. The ONLY reason I'm selling it is I don't have a reasonable place to park it since arriving in Texas this month and could use the money. If this changes, I will be keeping it, thus the price is reasonable and firm! Thank you very much for your attention, I welcome any and all questions you may have!
