Director of Supplier Management & Quality - World Centric Phoenix AZ

The culture and mission fit is very important for us and these requirements include a strong awareness, passion and commitment to social and environmental issues; a high degree of competence, motivation, and initiative; and adaptability and ability to collaborate with others. - Job Description - The Director of Supplier Management & Quality is responsible for quality control processes, supplier management and all issues related to pricing, efficiency and quality. The role requires a very strong ability to closely work with and manage Asian suppliers. It also requires strong collaboration with team members in Sourcing, Demand and Supply Planning, and Logistics. Supplier Quality & Management - Ensure processes for quality management are established, implemented and maintained. - Work with suppliers to implement quality processes, control and quality points. Defective products are caught before shipping. - Work with suppliers to perform root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements. - Develops, maintains and publishes supplier scorecards based on KPI's, performance and quality factors. - Tracks, investigates and responds in a timely manner to all customer quality complaints. - Ensure that all QMS (ISO 9001, ISO 14001...) and GFSI standard (SQL, BRC, IFS...), HAACP, GMP and other requirements are maintained and followed by suppliers. - Manages and arranges supplier audits for food safety, quality control and fair labor practices. Ensures that suppliers meet all compliance and regulatory laws. - Manages and maintains database of each suppliers' product and manufacturing certifications including 3rd party testing. - Conducts quarterly supplier business reviews. - In conjunction with Demand and Supply Planning works with suppliers on capacity planning and lead times. - Strategically manages and builds supplier partnerships to develop effective, strong, functional relationships. - Arranges 3rd party testing of suppliers' products as needed. - Regular basis after business hours' communication to overseas suppliers as needed - Overseas travel 2-4 times year or as needed. - Manages overseas staff for managing suppliers, quality control, factory audits, production problems, pricing issues, quality inspections and issues, logistics issues and scheduling etc. - Hires and manages new overseas staff as needed. Purchasing Management - Based on buying plans from planning sends all P.O.'s to suppliers and confirms P/I's. Ensures that commercial documents are received, processed and payments made timely. - Manages overall product specifications from barcodes, packaging, and box prints. Works with graphic designer as needed for packaging, box prints, etc. - Ensures new product specifications are entered and maintained in ERP system. - Experience - - 8+ years' experience in quality assurance and managing suppliers in USA & Asia. - BS in technical field preferred. - CPIM, CSCP, APICS, ASQ certifications preferred. - Ability to speak Mandarin a huge plus. - Experience in disposables, non-durables, consumer packaged goods or plastics - In depth knowledge of QA principles, concepts, industry practices and standards. - Experience with Asian contract manufacturing for certifications and quality. - Knowledge of GFSI, HACCP, ISO 9000, GMP standards and processes - Knowledge of Quality Management Systems processes and terminology. Six Sigma a plus. - Knowledge of social accountability standards (SA8000, BSCI) a plus - Experience working with GFSI, HACCP, ISO 9000, Safety, Health, and Environment and GMP processes - Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (processes, terminology. Six Sigma a plus. - Knowledge of social accountability standards (SA8000, BSCI) - Knowledge of key inventory performance drivers and metrics, turns, margin contributions, etc. - Manufacturing or engineering knowledge of fiber molding, injection molding, and thermoforming a plus. - Proven leadership, project management, problem solving and team development skills. - Experience leading others in a continuous improvement environment. - Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills. - Excellent analytical skills. Excel expert. - Experience with ERP, inventory management/manufacturing systems. Experience with NetSuite a major plus. - Proficient with software systems. - Compensation & Benefits - Compensation is dependent on experience.
