Details:
Ray Growler, Navajo Folk Artist, of life-size sheep. Mr. Growler is attributed as the inceptor of this art form and his are still the best. This is a Ram and Ewe pair purchased at the Flagstaff Museum of Northern Arizona in the mid-1990's. I am the original owner and these have been well-cared for in a smoke free home. These are "life-sized" on aspen wood frames with thick cured sheepskins, black painted wood hooves and real horn horns. They have incredibly charismatic faces and postures and appear to be in motion walking. The craftmanship is extraordinary. RAM: 40"Lx29"Hx17"W (horn tip to tip) This big guy with magnificent horns, his face is sheared sheepskin and black painted wood hooves. Coat is thick and fluffy. EWE: 27"Lx27"Hx10"W This little lady is the perfect companion to the Ram. Her face is equally charismatic of sheared sheepskin with delicate little horns of real horn. Black painted wood hooves and her coat is also thick and fluffy. Mr. Growler made this pair look like they are in motion and walking along together. Due to their uniqueness this pair are to be sold together as a pair. They belong together and enhance each other. They are in excellent condition and have been well-cared for. These are not the "table-top" size you normally currently find for sale that are in the 15"-17" size. Mr. Growler's sheep are currently available at Bischoff's Gallery show contact info ) in Scottsdale, Arizona. Feel free to inquire as to their pricing for the medium size sheep available and I hope you will find my pricing of these two to be very reasonable, part of my committment to keep them together. Glad to answer any questions.
