I am selling a 2008 DMR Trailer (single axel) and including the sailboat (a 1990 MacGregor 26S) as part of the deal. An 8 hp outboard motor is available for an additional cost if interested. The Trailer is priced at $3800. I am open to reasonable offers. Currently the trailer and boat are stored in Ventura, CA. I can show the boat and have all clean titles of registration. I will not be able to deliver the boat and trailer. This offer is for cash only. The trailer and the sailboat are a package deal... take one, get the other. The 2008 trailer is a replacement for the original trailer that came with the MacGregor 26. The original trailer was damaged in a hit-and-run accident by a drunk driver. The old tube frame was bent beyond repair. The sailboat sustained damage as well on the port side but was professionally repaired. The trailer is made by DMR (in Modesto, CA) and was built to cradle the Macgregor sailboat for a wonderful trailer ride. The trailer is a dream - nice powder coat, solid body (no rust or rot) and in good working condition (lights, safety chains, etc.... what else can you say about a trailer?). The tires are in good shape and are mounted on some sexy chrome rims (nothing fancy). There is no spare tire. About the boat... This MacGregor 26 is a project boat for a somebody that can undertake the body work (scratches and dents from latest boating season) and buy a new rudder. I want to be open and honest about the condition of the sailboat -- she sails well, is easy to handle by self or with crew. Sleeps 4-6 (V-berth, queen-sized space under cockpit, additional sleeping area in the galley and in the cockpit). That being said, I do not have the skill, time or resources to get the boat into a "pretty" working order. I include the "Owners Instruction" booklet as well which instructs how to step the mast. The electrical rats nest is there but no devices have any type of connectivity. So, there are no running lights or any power running through any of the amenities (lights). If you're handy and you know it, you can wire and get the electrical system working. Are there things I'm not covering? Not intentionally but likely... I never once looked closely at the swing keel below. It must be the original (so, 28 years old). The mast is straight, appears in sound condition and works as a mast should. The boom is solid and easily connects to the mast. I replaced the spreaders a few years ago. Some of her running rigging is newer (most of the work and effort I put into this was in the 2009 - 2012 season. All sailing was in Lake Tahoe and Folsom Lake. The boat has been in storage since 2012. I brought her out, cleaned her up and sailed her for the final time. I had the boat in Lake Tahoe for 2018 rec season and enjoyed many fine days of sailing. The boat was buoyed next to a larger boat that swung into my boat leaving scratches, dents and a couple of gouges on the port side. The body damage DOES NOT affect the sailability of the boat but DOES affect the Saleability of the vessel, so I feel ok that I am selling a boat trailer (very good condition) with a sailboat attached. . The dings and scratches are cosmetic issues that a handy person(s) will be able to work out. The boat is sailable (the current rudder has a small chunk missing from the body... I wouldn't sail the boat with the current rudder. A replacement rudder can be ordered from Blue Water Yachts. Or, you can repair the rudder yourself (epoxy, superglue, gum, and fiberglass). The 26S comes with three sails (main, standard jib and a 125% genoa sail). The main sail is showing age.... I have tried to keep it together but there are a couple of pieces of tape that are keeping small rips from widening. The Jib and Ginny are in good working condition. The Main and Jib halyard are the newest bits of line. I am including "extras" with the sailboat. There is air horn, distress flag, Danforth-type anchor, approx. 100 ft. rode for the anchor, and new battery (purchased this year and only used to start the outboard motor). In addition to the Owner's Instruction, I am including three additional books (author Don Casey): This Old Boat; Sailboat Electrics Simplified; and Sailboat Hull and Deck Repair. I think this trailer and project boat will have a great story opener... "remember when we bought that sailboat real cheap and fixed her up? That was a GREAT time.". Please contact me for details.
